Council of Ontario Universities (COU) Congratulates the Hon. Deb Matthews on Being Ontario’s New Minister of Advanced Education

It is with great pleasure that the Council of Ontario Universities (COU) welcomes, on behalf of the province’s universities, the Hon. Deb Matthews to her new post as Minister of Advanced Education and Skills Development.

As Premier Wynne said at the swearing in of her new cabinet today, you cannot separate the well-being of people from the well-being of our economy.

We look forward to working with Minister Matthews and others in the advanced education sector to continue to help students realize their own personal potential.  Working with government, communities and the private sector, Ontario’s universities will continue to do their part to help fuel prosperity.

Together with Minister Matthews and her Cabinet colleagues the university sector will continue to help the province and our citizens thrive in the ever changing global economy.

COU would also like to thank Minister Reza Moridi for his contributions to the sector.  Recognizing the importance of research and innovation for our province, we look forward to breaking new frontiers under his continued leadership as Minister of Research, Innovation and Science.
