“Ontario universities are committed to good mental health supports for our students, and we applaud the boost in funding announced today to enhance services.
As Minister Deb Matthews said today in her announcement at the University of Toronto, anxiety and depression and other mental health challenges can be overwhelming for young people at university and college, and we know the most common age for the onset of mental illness is between 15- and 24-years-old.
This additional funding will allow universities to enhance a range of mental health support services already available for students. The $6-million new investment will be used to help Ontario’s students get the care they need, when they need it.
When we cultivate good mental health in our students, universities are helping our graduates to meet their potential to build a better future for themselves, their families, our communities and our province.”
