Ontario universities welcome the government’s launch of a comprehensive review of postsecondary education in the province. The process will begin this summer and conclude this fall.
“We are confident that the review will point to the need for further investment to ensure that students have access to excellence at strong universities,” says Rick Van Loon, Chair of the Council of Ontario Universities and President of Carleton University.
“We trust that the review and consultation process, which was referenced in today’s announcement of the tuition freeze and partial compensation, is part of the government’s commitment to ensuring that Ontario students are given the opportunity to pursue higher education, and have access to the quality education that they deserve,” says Dr. Van Loon.
Time and again statistics reinforce the fact that, to remain competitive and prosperous in the knowledge economy, our population must possess the highest calibre of knowledge and skills possible. “Improving access for students and providing them with an education that is characterized by excellence is an investment in the future of our province,” says Ian Clark, President of Council.
