Premier announces implementation of Phase 2 of Trust Fund

Today’s announcement by Premier Eves outlining the implementation of Phase 2 of the Ontario Student Opportunity Trust Fund is welcome news for Ontario students and universities.

“This program reinforces our shared commitment to enhance opportunities for qualified and willing students to attend university,” said Richard Van Loon, Incoming Chair of Council and President of Carleton University. “The implementation of this phase of the program will benefit hundreds of thousands of Ontario students over the next decade.”

COU President Ian Clark noted, “It is important that sufficient financial support be provided through existing and new mechanisms to ensure that properly qualified students are not denied access to university programs for financial reasons. This is a significant and wise investment in our students and, ultimately, in the future of our province.”

“We commend government for enhancing this highly successful program, and look forward to the continued support of our generous donors,” said Dr. Van Loon.
