Ontario’s Universities Share Commitment to Brighter Future For Province

“Ontario’s universities share the government’s commitment, reiterated in today’s Throne Speech, to ensuring we draw on the many talents and resources Ontario has to offer to ensure a brighter future for everyone.

Enhanced financial aid measures through the Ontario Student Grant, combined with the $170 million universities provide to students through the Student Access Guarantee, will help even more low- and middle-income students reach their potential through postsecondary education. That helps individual students to thrive, and also benefits their families, their communities and the economy.

The pace of change is rapid and accelerating, and for Ontario to embrace this change, it’s important that everyone be given the opportunity to reach their potential in postsecondary education.

There will be increased access to university, new campuses and modernized labs, and more and more young entrepreneurs will get the help they need to grow their own businesses by learning how to turn innovative ideas into start-ups.

Ontario universities share the government’s goal of ensuring Ontario’s workforce can adapt to the demands of the shifting knowledge economy, and are prepared to be good partners with business in preparing graduates for jobs of the future.”
